Bundle Up & Give Back

Robert G. Cole High School’s Spanish Honor Society recently participated in a Winter clothing and toiletries drive. After learning about the mission of the Guadalupe home, the students were determined to help make a difference and support the cause. The Guadalupe home is a wonderful transitional shelter for pregnant and parenting mothers and their babies who find themselves homeless and are interested in making a change for a hopeful future through full-time education enrollment or employment. Case management, parenting education, life skills training, and counseling are provided through the organization.

The students gathered as many donations as possible by promoting the collection drive at school and on our website, which reaches the military community. The Spanish Honor Society members got together to organize and sort each item, ensuring good quality and neat stack of donations. The group then took a short field trip to the Guadalupe Home (located on the west side of San Antonio). They helped deliver the donations to the home and went on a tour of the facility. The group learned about their mission and what the Guadalupe Home truly does. The students were happy and proud of their large donation!

Through the help of the Cole Spanish Honor Society, many families, new moms, and young babies were kept warm from the harsh winter with new clothes and daily necessities. The group plans to continue supporting this organization and collect bilingual books for the moms to read to their children!  It is a partnership we would like to continue to grow!
