NATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS 
 

JOSEPH ADAMS SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

Each year the SHH awards scholarships in the amounts of $2000 and $1000 to graduating senior class members of SHH who have shown evidence of high achievement in Spanish or Portuguese throughout high school. Only one application per chapter will be accepted for each award.

BERTIE GREEN JUNIOR TRAVEL AWARD

Deadline: December

​

Each year travel awards are awarded to high school juniors who are members of SHH. The students travel to a country or region of the Spanish-speaking world; the departure date for the trip is generally scheduled for mid-July. In 2023, the SHH will award 21 students a trip to Panama. The trip will be July 15-22, 2024. Only one SHH application per chapter is accepted for each award.

BEST OF ALBRICIAS AWARDS

For each issue, a selection committee will choose the most outstanding contributions to Albricias in the categories of poetry, prose, and art/photography. Winners in each category will receive a check in the following amounts in recognition of their contribution to the journal: first place ($250), second place ($100), and third place ($50).

CHAPTER STUDENT AWARDS

​

The following certificates are available at no charge for chapter sponsors to award at their discretion. These certificates are to honor your members, but they do not take the place of membership dues, which must be purchased yearly for each new initiate.

PREMIO DE HONOR

Application Deadline for names to be published: May 1, 2024

Sponsors of active chapters may award the Premio de Honor to the best graduating senior member of the chapter. Each chapter may submit one student to receive the Premio de Honor, free of charge. Applications are accepted year-round. Names submitted by May 1 will be published online. (See Past Winners) Please allow three weeks for membership verification and processing.

CERTIFICADOS DE EXCELENCIA / CERTIFICADOS DE EXCELÊNCIA

Sponsors of active chapters may award the Certificado de Excelencia / Certificado de Excelência to initiated members, winners in the National Spanish and Portuguese Examinations, or to the initiated member who has achieved the highest grade point average in Spanish or Portuguese for that school year. The number awarded is limited to 10% of current chapter initiates. Certificates are updated for 2024.

CERTIFICADOS POR SERVICIOS / CERTIFICADOS POR SERVIÇOS

Sponsors of active chapters may award the Certificado por Servicios / Certificado por Serviços to recognize initiated members who have rendered meritorious service to their Chapter. The number awarded is limited to 10% of current chapter initiates. Certificates are updated for 2024.
