Hola! There aren't any specific SHH guidelines when it comes to honor cords, however I follow what Amarilys has suggested below with my chapter. I know that I have had a few years with similar situations, so at the beginning of senior year I let my students know that they are expected to participate in 80% of our activities, service, and meetings in order to receive honor cords. If attendance becomes an issue, I ask that they participate in another way in order to be able to receive them for graduation. Hope this helps!

I agree that they could continue to be a part of the leadership board, especially given our current environment. Officers in my chapter are elected as Erica explained above, however I do know of chapters that have both Junior and Senior positions. You mentioned that the other societies in your school have Juniors and Seniors in leadership positions. Have you spoken to other advisors at your school? The language honor societies at my school try to align as much as possible because of this exact reason. Kudos to you for inducting two groups this year in order to give as many deserving students as possible this honor!

Hello, I have a large membership as well in my high school. In addition to the national policy, we require students to participate in at least 50% of our events, meetings, and service projects. Our membership chair keeps attendance records, and students are informed if they are approaching a probationary period due to lack of particpation. Students that don't participate at all are subsequently removed from the membership. We utilize Google Classroom for attendance, updates, and virtual meetings and events. In addition, the students manage an Instagram account and post announcements and pictures. In non-Covid years, I've tried to engage members that aren't my students at the door before our meetings, and have had a "member spotlight" where one of my students introduces and shares some fun facts about members that I don't know. I agree that it is quite challenging to get to know everyone, especially in our current conditions, but I think the students appreciate any attempt!

Estoy trabajando con mi administración para obtener permiso para organizar un tipo de tutorías en linea con estudiantes del colegio (7-8) y de los niveles básicos en la secundaria con grupos de estudiantes de mi capítulo de SHH. Pueden organizar charlas de diferentes temas, jugar a Gimkit o Kahoot juntos de temas básicos y/o contestar algunas dudas de sus deberes en una o dos horas "de oficina" en linea semanalmente. Otra idea es empezar una hora de cuentos virtual en que los miembros leen cuentos en español para subir a un sitio común o pasarles a los profesores de la primaria. ¡Me encantaría escuchar otras ideas!
